TEMPE, Ariz. (June 6, 2023) – Northern Arizona Men's Tennis earned the ITA Community Service award in the Mountain Region, as announced Tuesday morning.
NAU Men's Tennis served the Flagstaff and Arizona community through providing tennis instructions to youth, students and adults while growing the game of tennis in the state of Arizona in 2022-2023 season. We have partnered with FTA (Flagstaff Tennis Association) USTA Northern Arizona, USTA Southwest as well as PASS (Phoenix after school sports) and NAU CIE (Center for International Education) throughout the year.
The Jacks participated in Campus Kids Play Day at Phoenix Tennis Center with PASS and USTA Southwest, and hosted NAU Campus Kids Play Day at NAU Tennis Center with FTA and USTA Northern Arizona, NAU International Students Play Day at NAU Tennis Center with NAU CIE, and NAU Tennis Community Appreciation Day at NAU Tennis Center. NAU Men's Tennis has also donated old tennis balls to Louie's pet club and participated in the athletic department's used shoes drive.
Last year the Lumberjacks received honorable mention for the ITA's community service award. The ITA will announce the national award winner next week. Virginia Tech, Charlotte, Oral Roberts, Cleveland State, Binghamton, Santa Clara, Austin Peay State, Florida Atlantic, Alabama, Arizona, and SMU all received the awards in their respective regions.
