NAU Men’s Tennis Adds Two Davis Cup Competitors for 2025-26

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (July 28, 2025) – Northern Arizona men's tennis head coach Maciej Bogusz announced the additions of Angel Hernandez and Daniels Tens to the Lumberjacks roster ahead of the 2025-26 season on Monday.

In addition to extensive national team experience, both Hernandez and Tens have competed for their respective home countries in the Davis Cup, the premier international men's tennis team event known as the "World Cup of Tennis."

"Most tennis players don't come to college with previous team experience and both Daniels and Angel have represented their countries in the Davis Cup, which is an unbelievable accomplishment given their young age," Bogusz said. "The Davis Cup is the pinnacle of team competition in the sport of tennis, so we are very excited to have these two talented, high-caliber players join NAU."

Hernandez, of Cádiz, Spain, has been rated as high as 12.25 in the Universal Tennis Rating (UTR). Holding dual citizenship in both Spain and Venezuela, his birth country, Hernandez made his Davis Cup debut this year for Venezuela. He posted victories in both singles and doubles.

Tens has represented Latvia in the Davis Cup each year since 2022. Ranked No. 206 in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) rankings and rated as high as 12.12 by UTR, Tens already has two ITF junior singles titles and three ITF doubles titles to his name.

Bogusz previously announced the additions of Jakub Jedrzejczak and Vincent Vohl as newcomers to the roster. The four new signees join an NAU program that has captured the Big Sky Conference regular season title in each of the last three seasons.
