FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (August 31, 2026) - The Northern Arizona Tennis Center has received national recognition as a United States Tennis Association Outstanding Facility Award for 2026. Both the men's tennis head coach Maciej Bogusz and women's head coach Ewa Bogusz traveled to the US Open in New York to receive the award.
"This national recognition from USTA is a tremendous honor and represents collaboration between NAU tennis programs, local tennis association, faculty, staff, community players, students and our alumni," Maciej Bogusz said. "It is a testament to our entire team's effort in growing the game of tennis in our community."
The NAU Tennis Center opened in 2016 and has been the home to not only NAU tennis, but tennis in flagstaff. The courts have hosted a number of events for the community such as the Flag Tennis Summer Session, ACEing Autism, the USTA Level Five Junior Open and the USTA Level Four Adult Indoor Championships.
Most recently, the NAU Tennis Center hosted a triples tournament fundraiser on Aug. 29, which nearly 100 people attended.
"NAU Tennis Center became a college community hub and I am very proud of that," Maciej Bogusz said.
The USTA judges the Outstanding Facility Award on quality of each court area and surface, quality of the court enclosure and lighting, overall layout and adaptation to site, accessories and amenities and by being USTA safe play compliant.
The NAU Tennis Center features six indoor courts and six outdoor courts. Courts are open to the general public, whether someone is getting started and wants to take lessons or if they want to play with friends.
For winning the award, NAU will receive a wall plaque and a sign that can be mounted at the facility.
