FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Nov. 18, 2024) – The Northern Arizona women's swimming and diving team heads into midseason this week, competing in two separate events.
The swimmers will travel to the Colorado Mesa Invitational, while the divers will host the Lumberjack Diving Invite at home in Flagstaff.
Most recently, the Lumberjacks faced two Western Athletic Conference opponents—New Mexico State and UTRGV. Northern Arizona fell to the New Mexico State Aggies, 135-165, but secured a dominant 232-67 win over UTRGV. Margaret Wesche impressed in the diving events, scoring 271.40 in the 1-meter and 283.75 in the 3-meter, earning her the title of WAC Diver of the Week.
The last time Northern Arizona competed against Colorado Mesa was in December 2023. Casey Craffey achieved two NCAA 'B' cuts during that meet in the 1650-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle. Her time of 16:15.27 in the 1650-yard freestyle was nearly five seconds faster than her previous personal best, setting a new meet record. In the 500-yard freestyle, her time of 4:45.21 was also a personal best and secured her second 'B' cut.
At the previous Lumberjack Diving Invite in February 2023, Grace Wesche led the Lumberjacks, finishing in fourth place with a score of 435.95. Mackenna Stocker followed closely in sixth place, scoring 424.15 points.
The swimmers will compete at Colorado Mesa from Nov. 20-23, while the divers will host the Lumberjack Diving Invite from Nov. 21-23 at the Wall Aquatic Center.
