FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (September 1, 2026) - Northern Arizona swimming and diving head coaches Andy Johns and Nikki Kelsey have announced the addition of 10 new Lumberjacks to the roster for Fall 2026.
"We're excited about this class of newcomers." said Coach Johns. "They are all very talented and will be relied upon to help us continue being successful. They're a great group, lots of fun, and we are looking forward to seeing what they can accomplish."
Rebecca Arrechedera, Gabby Esposito, Ava Field, Ivy Haggerty, Avalon Johnson, Cody Monaijiem, Oliwia Przbylska, Izzy Quaker, Hannah Rutten, and Katie Saensz will look to continue to elevate at 7,000 feet as the Lumberjacks defend their Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship title.
Rebeca Arrechedera | Houston, Texas/Mirabeau B. Lamar
Arrechedera had three years of varsity diving and two years of captain experience at Mirabeau B. Lamar. She was a 1-meter national and district winner, along with breaking school records and contributing to team district and regional victories. Additionally, she is a two-time Best Diver of the Year recipient. She chose NAU because of the combination of great coaches, motivation to grow, intriguing programs, and beautiful environment.
Gabby Esposito | San Diego, Calif/San Marcos
Esposito, a two-year San Marcos All-American swimmer, out of San Diego, Calif., won D1 CIF 100-yard backstroke and Winter Junior National in 100-yard backstroke, while breaking the record in 4x100-yard freestyle. Her accolades include: three-time state qualifier, MVP award recipient, and Age Group Championships High Point Winner. She was a part of the San Diego Imperial All-Star Team in 2020 and 2021, and the San Diego Imperial Zones Team in 2022. She chose NAU because of the supportive and fun team atmosphere and great coaching staff.
Ava Field | DuPont, Wash./Steilacoom
Field completed four years of swimming at Steilacoom, breaking records in the 200-yard individual medley, 100-yard breaststroke, and 100-yard butterfly, while breaking league meet records in the 200-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard backstroke, and 100-yard breaststroke. Field was a Tacoma Athletic Commission Athlete of the Year, two-time WIAA Athlete of the Week, and 2A State Champion. She chose NAU because she can balance AFROTC, academics, and athletics.
Ivy Haggerty | Kent, England/Dane Court Grammar
A nine-year Thanet Swim Club swimmer, Haggerty holds the club record for 200-yard butterfly. She claimed gold in 400-yard individual medley at 2023 English Nationals, then secured two more podium finishes in 2025 with gold in 100-yard butterfly and silver in 200-yard freestyle. She chose NAU because she instantly clicked with the coaching staff and team.
Avalon Johnson | Wheatridge, Colo./North HS
Johnson dived for three years at Mile High Dive Club and was a two-year varsity diver for North High, where she broke records in 1-meter diving for the six and 11 dives. Johnson attended USA Diving Zones and USA Diving Regionals in multiple years. She chose NAU because of the beautiful campus and the combination of athletics and academics, specifically Biomedical and honors.
Cody Monajjem | Fort Collins, Colo./Wellington
Monajjem was a four-year varsity swimmer for Wellington in Fort Collins, Colo. She won CHSAA 3A in 200-yard her sophomore year and 100-yard backstroke her junior year, while also breaking both individual and team relay records at Wellington Middle-High School. She chose NAU because of the great campus environment, a motivated and welcoming team, and knowledgeable coaching staff.
Oliwia Przbylska | Sokołów, Podlask/X Liceum Ogólnokształcące Mistrzostwa sportowego w Lublinie
Przbylska is a four-year National multi-medalist in individual medley and breaststroke (LCM and SCM) swimmer at X Liceum Ogólnokształcące Mistrzostwa sportowego w Lublinie. She had a second place finish in 400 individual medley LCM at Multination Junior Meet in Cyprus, secured silver in 400 individual medley SCM at Senior Polish National Championship 2024 and 400 individual medley LCM at Senior Polish National Championship 2025. She is a seven-time gold medalist in 400 individual medley, 200 individual medley, and 200 breaststroke, and four-time gold medalist in 800 relay at National Championships. She chose NAU because she believes it offers the perfect conditions for both studying and training.
Izzy Quaker |Johannesburg, Gauteng/Roedean School (S.A)
Quaker was a diver for twelve-years for the Roedean School. She was a four-year South African Junior National Squad member, four-year Junior & Senior SA Nationals member with numerous podium finishes in 2025, and first place finisher at both U18 Gauteng Schools Championships and South African Schools Championships. She chose NAU due the ability to create and support students who can excel in multiple aspects of life, along with the amazing diving facilities and community.
Hannah Rutten | Penticton, British Columbia, Canada/Penticton
Rutten was a four-time Provincial Champion swimmer for Penticton, where she was a three-time Kisu Swim Club academic honor roll and Fastest Female 5km.he holds the school record in 5km 1500 freestyle LCM and 800 freestyle SCM. She was a Canadian Olympic Trials qualifier and junior finalist, Western Canadian Swimming Championships Medalist, and 200-yard Medley Relay BC School Sports Provincial record holder, which she broke three times. She chose NAU because of the amazing team atmosphere, coaching support, the plentiful athletic and academic resources available, and opportunities for growth athletically and professionally.
Katie Saenz |Chandler, Ariz./Corona Del Sol
Saenz was a four-year varsity diver and two-year captain at Corona Del Sol, where she holds the record for 1-meter. She was a three-time City of Tempe All-City Award winner, three-time Outstanding Athletic Achievement award winner, and two-time Zone F qualifier. She chose NAU for the unmatched support system from the staff and fellow athletes, making the culture unique, combined with the gorgeous Flagstaff scenery.
