FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 14, 2024) – The Northern Arizona University women's tennis team is on the road this weekend as they travel to Albuquerque, N.M. to take on New Mexico and Abilene Christian.
The 'Jacks are coming off their season-opening weekend in which they went 1-1 with a 6-1 win against UTEP and a 3-4 loss to Wyoming.
Patrycja Niewiadomska went 4-0 on the weekend, with two singles wins on court one. Her efforts earned her Big Sky Player of the Week.
NAU will first play New Mexico on Friday. The Lobos are 5-0 so far this season with wins over Western New Mexico, Colorado College, Seattle, Gonzaga, and Eastern Washington. Last season when the Lumberjacks took on the Lobos they saw a narrow 3-4 loss.
The Lumberjacks will then face Abilene Christian on Saturday. The Wildcats are 2-4 this season with wins against Dallas Baptist and Texas Permian Basin and losses to UTSA, Texas A&M, Air Force, and Colorado State. In NAU's last meeting with Abilene Christian in 2018, they defeated the Wildcats 4-1.
NAU will take on the Lobos this Friday, Feb. 16 at 12:00 p.m. MST. The 'Jacks will then play the Wildcats on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 11:00 a.m. MST.
