FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 9, 2024) – The NAU women's tennis team earned their first win of the season as they defeated the UTEP Miners 6-1 in their home opener.

Ewa Bogusz "We weren't sure what we were going to see today. The girls have been working but match days are completely different, and it was nice to see they all came together and translated everything from practice to the matches."
The 'Jacks started the day off strong earning the doubles point after wins on courts two and three.
Laura Duhl and
Patrycja Niewiadomska won with a commanding 6-3 victory on court two, pulling away late in the set after a back-and-forth start.
Dolavee Tumthong and
Ava Neyestani saw tough competition on court three, with the set going to a tiebreaker after the Lumberjack women pushed it to 6-6. Tumthong and Neyestani easily won the tiebreak 7-1 to clinch the doubles point for NAU.
Daryna Shoshyna and
Ana Karen Guadiana Campos battled hard on court one but eventually fell 4-6.
Patrycja Niewiadomska continued her dominance as she easily claimed victory on court one. She defeated the Miners' Veronica Lebisova in consecutive sets 6-0, 6-2.
Next to finish was
Dolavee Tumthong on court five. She left no doubt as she earned another point for the 'Jacks winning in two sets, 6-3, 6-2.
Andrea Noguera clinched the victory over UTEP with her win on court six. She defeated the Miners' Paloma Hennicaux 6-3, 6-4.
Daryna Shoshyna saw an easy win in her first set on court three, winning 6-2. Her second set was closer, but she eventually earned the point with a 6-4 second set win.
Ana Karen Guadiana Campos had a strong first set on court two, winning 6-2 before dropping her second set 1-6. Although she battled hard in the third set, she eventually lost the point 4-6.
Ava Neyestani was the last Lumberjack to finish, seeing a strong two set victory with a 6-3, 6-4 win.
