FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 17, 2024) – The NAU women's tennis team fell 2-5 to conference rival Idaho State this afternoon.
The Lumberjacks began their day with tough competition in doubles play, losing the initial point.
Daryna Shoshyna and
Ana Karen Guadiana Campos fell down 0-4 on court one before battling back to 2-4. They eventually dropped their match 2-6.
Ava Neyestani and
Dolavee Tumthong saw a back-and-forth match, eventually pulling away to win 6-3 on court three.
Patrycja Niewiadomska and
Andrea Noguera saw stiff competition on court two, with their match going to a tiebreaker. They saw a close match, eventually being defeated 6-7 (7-9).
Patrycja Niewiadomska got the 'Jacks started off strong in singles play, dominating on court one with an easy 6-0, 6-3 victory to earn the first point of the day.
Andrea Noguera won her first set on court six 6-4 before dropping the second 1-6. Despite fighting hard in the third set, she eventually lost 2-6.
Ana Karen Guadiana Campos battled throughout her match on court two, dropping her first set 4-6 before pushing the second set. to a tiebreaker. In a back-and-forth tiebreak, she eventually lost 6-7 (5-7).
Ava Neyestani saw a tough start on court five, dropping her first set 2-6. She bounced back in the second set with a 6-2 win before losing her third set 2-6.
Dolavee Tumthong started strong on court three, easily winning her first set 6-1. She dropped her second set in a 5-7 tiebreaker before fighting back with a 6-2 win in the third set to earn a second point for the Lumberjacks.
Daryna Shoshyna pushed her first set on court four to a tiebreak before eventually losing it 6-7 (7-9). She saw an easy 6-3 victory in the second set before eventually dropping her third set 3-6.
