FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 20, 2024) – The NAU track & field teams are headed back to Tucson to compete in the Willie Williams Classic as they continue the outdoor season.
Madeline Wilson will compete in both the 100-meter and the 200-meter after winning each event last weekend at the Arizona Spring Break Fiesta.
Kyairra Reigh will also compete in the 200-meter along with the 400-meter, looking to build upon the success she saw last weekend.
Kyle Smith and
Khamis Hassan will lead the men's sprints group, both competing in the 100-meter and 200-meter after seeing strong starts to their season last weekend.
The distance group will open their outdoor season this weekend, with
Annika Reiss,
Nikita Moore, and
Keira Moore all competing in the 800-meter, 1,500-meter, and 5,000-meter. Freshmen
Zack Munson and
Ford Washburn will make their NAU outdoor debuts as they compete in the 1,500-meter and 5,000-meter.
Mitchell Effing will compete in both the triple jump and the long jump for the first time in the outdoor season. Effing ended the indoor season with Big Sky Individual titles in both events and competed at the NCAA Indoor National Championships in the triple jump.
Brenna Rodriguez will compete in the triple jump for the women after opening her season last weekend with a lifetime best in the long jump.
Garret Bernt will also begin his season this weekend as he competes in the hammer throw and the discus. Bernt saw an impressive indoor season that included him breaking the weight throw school and conference record, and seeing a third-place finish in the event at the NCAA Indoor National Championships.
Sariyah Horne-Kemp will compete in the hammer throw and the discus, leading the women's team in both events after seeing strong performances last weekend.
Piper Pfister will be the only women's javelin thrower to compete this weekend, looking to build upon her performance last week.
Clay Carbajal saw an outstanding first meet as a Lumberjack last week, throwing 62.44 meters in the javelin throw. He will compete in the event again this weekend.
The Willie Williams Classic will take place on Mar. 22 and 23 in Tucson, Ariz. Live results for the meet can be found
