NAU Track & Field Concludes Competition at Willie Williams Classic

TUCSON, Ariz. (March 23, 2024) – The NAU track & field team saw a solid second day of competition at the Willie Williams Classic, with multiple athletes setting new PRs.
 
The NAU women swept the top-three spots in the 800-meter, with Nikita Moore taking the event win with a personal best time of 2:08.35. Keira Moore was close behind in second with a time of 2:08.92, while Karrie Baloga finished third with a time of 2:09.52. Ava Mitchell also competed in the event, placing sixth with a time of 2:11.63.
 
Caleb Easton was the top NAU finisher in the men's 800-meter, running a personal best time of 1:53.01 to place seventh. Riley Human finished 12th after running a time of 1:54.40.
 
Kyairra Reigh easily took the event win in the 400-meter after running a personal best time of 52.65. Her time is the second-fastest in NAU school history. Hannah Schmidt placed seventh, running a personal best time of 56.08. Also earning new PRs were Alaynah Reed and Odessa Zentz. Reed placed 13th with a time of 56.70 while Zentz finished 20th with a time of 57.41.
 
Joshua Anderson set a new PR in the men's 400-meter after placing ninth with a time of 48.43. Jackson Glamann also competed, finishing 28th with a time of 51.71.
 
Jyntry Rucker was the lone competitor in the women's 100-meter hurdles, placing eighth after running a personal best time of 14.68.
 
Trenton Givens placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.30, followed closely by Tyson Givens in sixth with a time of 14.72. Zachary Taylor placed 14th after running a time of 15.37.
 
Madeline Wilson saw another strong day of competition, placing second in the 100-meter with a personal best time of 11.52. Jyntry Rucker also ran a personal best time, finishing 29th with a time of 12.38. Jaycie Spencer and Haley Posey placed 34th and 38th respectively, running times of 12.64 and 12.85.
 
Kyle Smith set a new PR in the 100-meter, placing 10th after running a time of 10.51. Khamis Hassan was not far behind in 13th with a time of 10.56. MarcAnthony Sanchez ran a personal best time of 10.68 to finish 20th while Ian Lipsey placed 28th with a time of 10.91.
 
The women's 'A' 4x100-meter relay squad placed third, with Kyairra Reigh, LiNay Perry, Brenna Rodriguez, and Madeline Wilson combining to run a time of 45.21. The 'B' squad finished sixth, with Alaynah Reed, Hannah Schmidt, Kenashalee Kerr, and Haley Posey combining to run a time of 47.27.
 
The men's 'A' 4x100-meter relay also placed third, with Khamis Hassan, Kyle Smith, Ian Lipsey, and Mitchell Effing combining to run a time of 40.46. The 'B' squad finished seventh, with MarcAnthony Sanchez, Trenton Givens, Joshua Anderson, and Jackson Glamann combining to run a time of 41.28.
 
The women's 4x400-meter relay saw a strong finish, with the 'A' group placing third with LiNay Perry, Madeline Wilson, Hannah Schmidt, and Kyairra Reigh combining to run a time of 3:40.62. The 'B' squad finished eighth, with Alaynah Reed, Brenna Rodriguez, Janelle Sanchez, and Odessa Zentz running a time of 3:53.36.
 
The men's 'A' 4x400-meter relay group placed fifth, with Joshua Anderson, Tyson Givens, MarcAnthony Sanchez, and Trenton Givens combining to run a time of 3:16.86. The 'B' squad finished sixth with Cannon Booker, Kyle Smith, Ethan Seppala, and Christian Mutengela combining to run a time of 3:20.30.
 
Kenashalee Kerr finished second in the women's triple jump with a wind-aided mark of 12.39 meters. Brenna Rodriguez earned a new PR in the event, placing fifth with a mark of 12.27 meters.
 
Mitchell Effing placed second in the men's triple jump after jumping 14.95 meters.
 
Sariyah Horne-Kemp finished fourth in the discus after hitting a mark of 47.29 meters, with Tañia Duncan close behind in sixth with a personal best mark of 43.66 meters.
 
Parker Bays placed third in the shot put after hitting a personal best mark of 17.57 meters. Jake Tucker finished eighth with a mark of 15.93 meters, with Drayden Allen placing 10th with a mark of 14.79 meters. Trystan Gillis also competed, placing 19th with a mark of 12.54 meters.
