NAU Women’s Tennis Earns Conference Win in 6-1 Victory over Eastern Washington

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 29, 2024) – The NAU women's tennis team (4-10, 1-3) earned their first conference victory of the season as they defeated the Eastern Washington Eagles 6-1.
 
The Lumberjacks started their day with tough doubles matches, dropping the first point of the day. After falling down 1-2 early on court two, Laura Duhl and Patrycja Niewiadomska tied it up at 3-3 before being defeated 6-3.
 
Daryna Shoshyna and Dolavee Tumthong faced tough competition on court one, initially falling down 0-2 and eventually tying the match 4-4. Despite a strong effort, the two fell 6-4 as the Eagles clinched the doubles point. Ana Karen Guadiana Campos and Ava Neyestani took a quick 1-0 lead on court three, seeing a back-and-forth match which went to a 6-5 tiebreaker before it was left unfinished.
 
Ana Karen Guadiana Campos saw a strong match on court two, going up 3-1 early and taking the first set 6-1.  Campos continued her dominance in the second set, taking an early 2-1 lead and carrying it to a 6-1 victory to earn the first point of the day for the 'Jacks.
 
Patrycja Niewiadomska dominated on court one, taking a 3-0 lead early in the first set and carrying it to a 6-3 win. In the second set, Niewiadomska again jumped to a quick 3-0 lead, easily earning the second point for NAU with a 6-1 win.
 
After going up 2-1 quickly in the first set, Laura Duhl saw a strong 6-2 win on court six. In the second set, Duhl fell down 1-2 early before bouncing back to a 6-4 win to earn the third point for the 'Jacks.
 
After starting the first set tied 2-2, Daryna Shoshyna battled back to take the win 6-4. In a close second set, the score was tied 3-3 before Shoshyna took the lead and the 6-4 win to clinch the match victory for NAU.
 
Ava Neyestani saw a tough matchup on court five, falling down 2-3 quick in the first set before dropping it 3-6. Neyestani fought back hard in the second set, going up 3-2 early before winning 6-3. In a tiebreaker, Neyestani took the victory 10-7 to earn the fifth point of the day for the 'Jacks.
 
Despite falling down 2-3 early on court four, Dolavee Tumthong bounced back and went on a 4-0 run to take the first set 6-3. Tumthong fell 3-6 in the second set after a strong effort. After going up 4-0 quick in the third set, Tumthong closed out the match for NAU with a 6-2 victory.
