AZUSA, Calif. (April 12, 2024) – The NAU track & field team continued to see success at the Bryan Clay Invitational and Beach Invitational, with multiple distance and throws athletes setting new PRs.
Nico Young ran his first outdoor 800-meter at the Bryan Clay Invitational, running a time of 1:48.00 to finish 14
th in the invitational race. His time puts him third on NAU's all-time performance list in the event.
Gracelyn Larkin ran a time of 15:37.51 to finish 20
th in the first heat of the women's invitational 5,000-meter. Her time is the third fastest in school history.
Ava Mitchell ran a time of 15:58.48 to finish seventh in the third heat of the invitational 5K.
Kang Nyoak competed in the second heat of the men's invitational 5K, running a time of 14:00.43 to finish 21
st.
Hayley Burns competed in the first heat of the women's open 5K, placing second with a time of 16:27.72.
Anna Fenske competed in the fourth heat of the open 5K, finishing ninth after running a personal best time of 16:25.42.
In the fourth heat of the men's open 5K,
Cael Grotenhuis placed first after running a personal best time of 13:38.96.
Zack Munson ran a time of 13:55.78 to place 11
th, with
Terrence Keyes close behind in 16
th after running a time of 13:57.62.
Erik Le Roux also competed, finishing 26
th with a time of 14:13.48.
Odessa Zentz competed in the women's invitational 800-meter, placing 115
th with a time of 2:12.60.
Skyler Wallace competed in the open 10,000-meter, running a time of 36:54.44 to finish 31
st.
Sariyah Horne-Kemp had another strong day, competing in the hammer throw at the Beach Invitational and placing 10
th with a mark of 59.30 meters.
In the men's hammer throw,
Parker Bays placed 36
th with a throw of 56.04 meters.
Cole White also competed, finishing 53
rd with a mark of 47.46 meters.
Clay Carbajal was the top NAU finisher in the men's javelin throw, placing 21
st with a mark of 60.83 meters.
Clayton Zupke finished 35
th with a mark of 55.18 meters while
Karim Grissett threw a personal best 52.76 meters to place 38
th.
Piper Pfister placed 31
st in the women's javelin throw with a mark of 39.98 meters.
