BOZEMAN, Mont. (April 5, 2024) – The NAU women's tennis team (5-12, 2-5) fell to Montana State 4-3 following strong efforts in singles play.
"The women got after it today and gave themselves a chanfe to win the match," said assistant coach
Maciej Bogusz. "It came down to who can move on quicker after missed opportunities and Montana State has done a better job with that."
The 'Jacks got off to a good start in doubles play as
Patrycja Niewiadomska and
Andrea Noguera defeated their opponents on court two 6-3.
Daryna Shoshyna and
Dolavee Tumthong fell 6-3 on court one after putting up a good effort.
On court three,
Ana Karen Guadiana Campos and
Ava Neyestani pushed their match to a tiebreaker, eventually falling 7-6 (7-4) as the Bobcats clinched the doubles point.
Daryna Shoshyna earned the first point of the day for NAU as she saw a quick 6-2, 6-4 victory on court four.
Dolavee Tumthong dropped the first set on court three 6-3. Tumthong bounced back in the second set, pushing it to a tiebreaker before falling 7-6 (7-4).
Ana Karen Guadiana Campos won the first set on court two 6-4 before dropping the second set in a close 7-6 tiebreaker. Campos eventually fell 6-2 in the third set.
Patrycja Niewiadomska dropped the first set on court one 6-2 before fighting back to a dominant 6-0 victory in set two. Set three went to a tiebreaker, with Niewiadomska earning another point for the Lumberjacks with a 7-6 (7-5) victory.
Laura Duhl fought hard on court six, but lost in consecutive sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Ava Neyestani saw a strong day on court five, earning a third point for NAU with a 6-4, 6-4 win.
