TEMPE, Ariz. (November 2, 2025) – The NAU Women's Tennis team traveled south to Tempe to compete in the Thunderbird Invitational this weekend.
Senior Patrycja Niewiadomska got two of the Lumberjacks' three singles wins. On day one, she beat Allie Bittner from SMU in a tight three-set battle, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. On the second day she grabbed her second singles win of the weekend, beating SMU's Addison Yang Comisky in straight sets, including a breadstick in the second set, 6-4, 6-1. However, Niewiadomska lost on the third day to ASU player Emilija Tverijonaite in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.
The Other Lumberjack singles win was delivered by junior Natalie Rainke as she took down Katarina Vayser from UC Santa Barbara. Rainke won her match in competitive straight sets, the first one in a tiebreak, 7-6(2), and the second by just one break, 7-5.
In doubles, Rainke and freshman Madelynn Ludwig secured NAU's win in doubles for the weekend, arriving on the third day against Grand Canyon pair Hams Metwali and Peyton Duckett, 6-3.
Tthe Lumberjacks will return to the court for the ITA Sectionals in Seattle, Washington and the ITA Masters in San Diego, California. Both tournaments are set to begin on Nov. 6.
