Women’s Tennis Taking on Wyoming in Lone Matchup this Week

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 13, 2025) – NAU Women's Tennis is returning to road play this week, taking on the Wyoming Cowgirls on Friday morning. The match is set to start at 10 a.m. MST and live results will be available here.
 
Northern Arizona is coming off back-to-back victories over Mesa CC last Saturday in doubleheader fashion. NAU's Daryna Shoshyna and Andrea Noguera both remain undefeated through singles play this season with Shoshyna going 5-0, primarily playing at the No. 2 with one victory coming at the No. 1 position. Noguera also sits with a 5-0 record, picking up two wins at the No. 3, one at the No. 4, and two at the No. 5 position.
 
In doubles play, Shoshyna and partner Jantacova lead the team with a 3-1 record as the two have gone 3-0 in just as many contests. The team is 9-4 through doubles matches and 23-7 through singles matches.
 
Wyoming enters Friday's meeting with a 1-7 record, coming off a 5-2 loss to Iowa State on Feb. 8. The Cowgirls lone win of the season came against Metropolitan State University of Denver with a 7-0 final on Jan. 31.
 
In the match against the Cyclones, Elena Trencheva and Dilnaz Mashabayeva won their singles matches at No. 5 and 6, respectively. Trencheva rallied to win 2-6, 6-4 and 1-0 (10-6) while Mashabayeva also rallied from a set down to win, 4-6, 6-4 and 1-0 (10-5). The win gives Trencheva a team-high three singles victories this dual season.
