Box Score LARAMIE, Wyo. (February 15, 2025) – The Women's Tennis team fell in a close match to the Wyoming Cowgirls, 4-3.
The Lumberjacks lost the doubles point after losing two out of the three doubles matches. The one win that NAU got in doubles was at the No. 2 position with
Laura Duhl and
Patrycja Niewiadomska getting a 6-4 victory.
In singles, NAU grabbed three wins. Niewidomaska grabbed a win on the singles side as well by winning in three sets, 5-7, 6-2, 6-1.
The other Lumberjacks that notched singles wins were
Andrea Noguera and
Elen Jantacova. Nogurera got a bagel in her win at the No. 3 spot, 6-0, 6-3. Jantacova also won in straight sets in a much closer match, winning by the scoreline of 6-4, 6-7.
This match against Wyoming came down to the final singles match to see which team would win overall.
Leontina Stojanovic put up a battle but came up just short of winning as she lost in three sets, with the third going into a tiebreak, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4).
This loss now moves the Jacks' record to 3-3 on the season. In the next match, NAU will head to Pocatello, Idaho for the first Big Sky Conference match of the season against the Idaho State Bengals.
