FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 20, 2025) – Northern Arizona Women's Tennis is heading on the road for the first Big Sky Conference matchup of the regular season, set to take on the Idaho State Bengals at 9 a.m. MST in Pocatello on Friday.
Northern Arizona enters the week holding a 3-3 overall record, coming off a 4-3 loss at Wyoming with hopes to jump back into the win column. The Lumberjacks top doubles duo of
Daryna Shoshyna and
Elen Jantacova currently leads the team with a 3-2 record, followed by
Laura Duhl and
Patrycja Niewiadomska's No. 2 record of 2-1.
On the singles courts,
Andrea Noguera holds a 6-0 record, going 3-0 at the No. 3, 1-0 at the No. 4, and 2-0 at the No. 5. Shoshyna follows with a 5-1 record while primarily playing at the No. 2 under an undefeated 4-0 record, going 1-1 at the No. 1.
The Bengals are off to a 5-4 start in the 2025 campaign, looking to bounce back off a 6-1 loss to UNLV. The Bengals grabbed a 5-2 victory over Utah Tech and a 4-3 victory over Kansas City in back-to-back neutral matches in Las Vegas prior to dropping to UNLV.
In doubles play, the Bengals are led by the duo of Stefanya Shalakhova and Asem Shoybek who hold a 3-5 record at the No. 1 position. Millie Day and Sydney Morris are 3-5 as a pairing at the No. 2 position, going 1-0 at the No. 1 position. Shoybek leads the team in singles play at the top of the lineup, going 3-4 at No. 1 and 1-1 at No. 2. The Bengals were picked to finish sixth in the Big Sky Preseason Poll.
