POCATELLO, Idaho (February 21, 2025) – Northern Arizona Women's Tennis (4-3, 1-0) kicked off Big Sky Conference regular-season matchups on Friday morning with a 7-0 victory over the Idaho State Bengals (5-5, 0-1).
Laura Duhl and
Patrycja Niewiadomska paved the way to the Jacks first doubles victory of the match, picking up a 6-3 victory at the top of the lineup over ISU's duo of Millie Day and Sydney Morris. Day and Sydney Morris.
Leontina Stojanovic and
Andrea Noguera dropped to Victoria Grymalska and Olivia Mikkelson in a 6-4 final at the No. 3. Clinching the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead into singles,
Elen Jantacova and
Daryna Shoshyna battled to a 7-5 victory at the No. 2 over Veronika Zarovna and Stefanya Shalakhova.
Moving into singles play, Noguera continued her undefeated streak, earning a 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 win at the No. 4 position over Idaho State's Mikkelson. Niewiadomska put the Lumberjacks up with a 3-0 advantage following a 7-5, 6-0 win at the No. 1 over Shalakhova. Clinching the victory, Shoshyna earned a 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) win over ISU's Day at the No. 2.
In the lone three-set matchup of the day, Duhl pulled off the comeback in 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 fashion at the No. 3 slot against Morris. Jantacova closed the No. 5 matchup at 6-1, 6-4 over Bengal Victoria Grymalska before Stojanovic closed out the match, clinching the 7-0 sweep with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 victory over Zarovna.
NAU will return to Flagstaff to host the next four contests at home, starting with a March 2
