VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (March 15, 2025) – The Northern Arizona men's and women's track and field team concluded its season at the 2025 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships today in Virginia Beach, Va.
The women's squad tied for 18
th with 12 points for its best finish since 2006 when NAU tied for 10
th with 20 points and the best finish for the Big Sky Conference since 2007.
Maggi Congdon is bringing first team All-American honors back with her to Flagstaff, as she placed third in the mile with a time of 4:32.88 – just behind the second-place finisher who crossed the line in 4:32.87.
It's the first first team All-America honor of Congdon's career, as she placed ninth in 4:36.71 at last year's championships. She entered the event this season with the 14
th fastest time in the field and earned a podium finish.
Less than 24 hours after finishing fourth in the 5,000-meters,
Elise Stearns followed up with her second first team All-America honor of the championships after placing eighth in the 3,000-meters with a time of 9:04.01.
Joining Stearns and Congdon as first team All-Americans was
Colin Sahlman in the men's mile. He finished eighth in the field with a time of 3:57.02, earning first team All-America honors for the second-straight year after finishing sixth last season.
Less than an hour later, Sahlman toed the line again in the 3,000-meters where he earned second team All-America honors with a 16
th place finish in 8:08.56.
Drew Bosley was the top NAU finisher in the 3,000-meters, racing to second team All-America honors with a 12
th place finish in 7:56.35 a day after earning second team All-America honors in the 5,000-meters.
This concludes the 2024-25 indoor season. The Lumberjacks will kick off the outdoor campaign this Friday through Saturday, March 21-22 at the Willie Williams Classic in Tucson, Ariz.
