NAU Knocks Down Idaho in 5-2 Victory

MOSCOW, Idaho (March 15, 2025) – The NAU Women's Tennis team defeated the Idaho Vandals 5-2 to remain undefeated in Big Sky Play, 3-0. The Lumberjacks also picked up their fifth win in a row.
 
NAU started the day by taking the doubles point. The No. 1 doubles team of Daryna Shoshyna and Elen Jantacova grabbed a win, 6-3. Patrycia Niewiadomska and Laura Duhl clinched the doubles point, winning by the score of 6-3.
 
In Singles, The Lumberjacks got four singles matches. Lumberjacks that won in singles were Niewiadomska, Shoshyna, Jantacova and Andrea Noguera.
 
ShoShyna double bageled her opponent at the No. 1 spot in the lineup as she won, 6-0, 6-0. This is Shoshyna's fourth 6-0, 6-0 win this season with her going it previously to players from Richmond and MCC.
 
Niewiadomska got her win at the No. 2 position. Niewiadomska won by the shoreline of 6-2, 6-2. She is now 7-2 overall in singles.
 
Noguera won her match in straight sets, picking up a bagel in the second to win, 6-4, 6-0. 
 
Jantacova went into a third set 10-point tiebreaker. Jantacova and her opponent split the first two sets to 3-6, 6-2. Jantacova was able to pull it out in the tiebreaker, 10-5.
 
The win moved the Lumberjacks record to 8-3 and are 3-0 in big Sky Play. NAu will play tomorrow as they head to Cheney, Washington to take on the Eastern Washington Eagles.
