FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 20, 2025) – Northern Arizona Women's Tennis extend its win streak to seven-straight matches on Thursday, following a 7-0 sweeping victory over the Grand Canyon Lopes.
Patrycja Niewiadomska and doubles partner
Laura Duhl battled their way back to pick up the first doubles victory of the match at the No. 2, breaking a 4-4 tie and earning the 6-4 win over GCU's pairing of Bella Crossman and Dania Deaifi. The Lopes quickly evened play with a No. 1 doubles victory as NAU's duo of
Daryna Shoshyna and
Elen Jantacova fell 6-4 to Gala Arangio and Karina Hofbauer.
The Jacks No. 3 pairing of
Andrea Noguera and
Ruslana Kovalenko secured the doubles point, breaking a 4-4 tie to win the match at 6-4 over Grand Canyon's duo of Peyton Duckett and Angelina Mihajlovic.
Taking a 1-0 lead into singles play, Niewiadomska quickly paved her way to the first singles win, taking a 6-3, 6-1 final at the No. 2 over Arangio. Kovalenko would quickly follow suit at the No. 6, picking up a 6-3, 6-1 win over GCU's Peyton Duckett. Secruing the victory at 4-0, Jantacova knocked Crossman at the No. 4 position in a 6-3, 6-2 final.
Duhl battle back from a 0-4 start to the first set, finding her way to a 7-5, 6-2 victory at the No. 3 over Deaifi. Shoshyna closed out the No. 1 match with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Hofbauer, followed by a comeback finish from
Leontina Stojanovic, finalizing a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6) match at the No. 6, giving the Jacks the 7-0 sweeping win at home.
The Lumberjacks will now jump back on the road for their final regular season matchup away from Flagstaff, taking on the Portland State Vikings on Sunday.
