PHOENIX, Ariz. (April 24, 2025) – NAU Women's Tennis is set for their first matchup of the 2025 Big Sky Tournament following a first-round bye after clinching the No. 1 seed and the regular season championship.
The Jacks will face off with the Montana State Bobcats on Friday morning at 8 a.m. MST at the Phoenix Tennis Center. Montana State advanced after defeating No. 5 Idaho State on Thursday morning in a clean 4-0 sweep. The Jacks and Bobcats faced off in Flagstaff during the regular season, where NAU pulled off a 6-1 victory.
Head Coach
Ewa Bogusz was named Big Sky Head Coach of the Year as NAU capped off the regular season with a 7-0 victory over Weber State to improve to 11-straight wins, finishing the regular season 10-0 at home and a perfect 8-0 in Big Sky play. The Jacks won the regular season title outright and have secured the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament coming up this weekend at the Phoenix Tennis Center.
Daryna Shoshyna earned Big Sky MVP honors, unanimously as voted on by league head coaches, following a 16-1 singles record, going 8-1 at the No. 1 and 8-0 at the No. 2. Shoshyna went 8-0 in Big Sky meetings. In addition to MVP, Shoshyna was an All-Big Sky First Team unanimous selection as well.
Adding another unanimous All-Big Sky Singles First Team selection,
Patrycja Niewiadomska rang in the honors following a 14-2 regular season singles record, going 5-2 at the No. 1 and a perfect 9-0 at the No. 2.
Andrea Noguera was named to the All-Big Sky Singles Second Team after a 14-2 sophomore campaign, primarily playing at the No. 4 with a 7-1 record, while going 5-1 at the No. 3, and 2-0 at the No. 5. Freshman
Elen Jantacova pulled off a 13-3 slate to earn All-Big Sky Singles Honorable Mention, holding a 5-3 record at the No. 4 and a perfect 8-0 at the No. 5.
On the doubles side, Shoshyna and Jantacova were named to the All-Big Sky Doubles First Team alongside
Laura Duhl and Niewiadomska's All-Big Sky Doubles Second Team honors. Shoshyna and Jantacova held a 10-5 record, primarily at the top of the lineup holding an 8-4 record while 2-1 at the No. 2. Duhl and Niewiadomska went 8-4 overall while holding a 7-2 record at the No. 2.
