FARMINGTON, Utah (September 22, 2025) – Following a second consecutive three-touchdown performance,
Ty Pennington repeated as Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. It is Pennington's third career weekly honor from the league office.
Pennington shared the Offensive Player of the Week award with Montana's Keali'i Ah Yat. Dylan Hampsten (Sacramento State) and Jacob Psyk (UC Davis) were the Co-Defensive Players of the Week and Ty Morrison (Montana) was the Special Teams Player of the Week.
The Lumberjacks' signal caller threw for 286 passing yards and three touchdowns in NAU's 31-23 ranked win over No. 19/14 UIW this past Saturday. A week after setting a career-high with three passing touchdowns at Southern Utah, Pennington matched that total against the Cardinals, helping NAU to its program-record ninth consecutive win in the Walkup Skydome.
All three of Pennington's touchdowns were at least from 30 yards with scoring connections to
Myseth Currie on a 46-yard first half ending Hail Mary that landed at No. 4 on Sportscenter's Top 10 plays,
Jayson Raines (33 yards) and
Jeter Purdy (30 yards).
Pennington continues to lead the Big Sky with 1,085 passing yards and eight passing touchdowns in addition to 62 points responsible for. He ranks sixth in the FCS in passing yards and 10th in touchdowns and is 12th with 281.5 yards of total offense per game.
The Lumberjacks, on a three-game winning streak heading into their Big Sky opener at Portland State on Saturday, moved up to No. 15 in both the Stats Perform and AFCA Coaches Polls this week. The ranking is NAU's highest since the end of the 2013 season.
