FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (January 18, 2026) - The Northern Arizona women's tennis team heads to Tucson to face off against the Arizona Wildcats on Monday, Jan. 19 in the first match of the 2026 season for the Lumberjacks.
The Wildcats are currently 2-0 with sweeping wins over UC Davis and UC San Diego. Arizona is also coming off the heels of a season where they finished No. 31 in the nation, as well as an appearance in the NCAA tournament.
Last season, NAU made it to the Big Sky Conference championship match, losing to Sacramento State 4-0. The Jacks secured wins against talented teams during that season, including a 4-1 win over the New Mexico Lobos and a 7-0 sweep against GCU.
Head coach Ewa Bougz returned four players from last year's team, sophomore Elen Jantacova, senior Patrycja Niewiadomska, junior Andrea Noguera and sophomore Leontina Stojanovic. Niewiadomska, Noguera and Jantacova all went 14-3 in singles matches during the 2025 campaign.
Niewiadomska played seven matches at the No. 1 spot in the line where she accumulated a 5-2 record. At the No. 2 spot, she lost just one match out of the 10 that she played on that court.
The Lumberjacks were picked to finish second in the Big Sky preseason poll, behind Sacramento State.
Arizona will have two matches on Monday with NAU being the second one at 5 p.m. The first match for the Wildcats is against Big Ten Conference opponent, the No. 19 USC Trojans.
The match will be streamed on Playsight.com and there will be live stats for the match. First serve is set at 5 p.m. at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center in Tucson, Arizona.
