Lumberjacks Chase First MPSF Championship

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 24, 2026) - The Northern Arizona women's swimming and diving team will look to capture its first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Conference Championship this week in Pharr, Texas. The competition runs from Feb. 25 through Feb. 28 and will be hosted by UTRGV at the City of Pharr-PSJA Natatorium.

Last year, Pepperdine won the women's title, while Pacific claimed the men's championship.

Northern Arizona previously won 12 straight Western Athletic Conference Championships before moving to the MPSF. In the final WAC Championship, the Lumberjacks scored 694.5 points, finishing 160.5 points ahead of New Mexico State.

The 'Jacks will reunite with some familiar faces, as several teams from the WAC also moved to the MPSF. Participants include Air Force (M), California Baptist (M/W), Idaho (W), Incarnate Word (M/W), New Mexico State (W), Northern Colorado (W), Pacific (M/W), Pepperdine (W), UTRGV (W), UNLV (M), Utah Tech (W) and Wyoming (M).

Game On Live Studio (GOLS) will stream the MPSF Championships live.

Wednesday will begin with diving preliminaries at 9:30 a.m. MST in the women's one-meter event. At 5 p.m. MST, the session will feature the women's 200-yard medley relay, followed by the one-meter diving championship and the 800-yard freestyle relay final.

On Thursday, preliminaries for the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle relay will begin at 9 a.m. MST. The three-meter diving preliminaries will start at 9:30 a.m. MST. Finals begin at 5 p.m. MST and include the 200-yard freestyle relay, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, 50-yard freestyle and the three-meter diving championship.

Friday morning preliminaries include the 100-yard butterfly, 400-yard IM, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke and the 400-yard medley relay exhibition. Divers will compete in an exhibition event. Finals for those events will take place in the afternoon.

Saturday morning will begin with preliminaries in the 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard butterfly, along with the 400-yard freestyle relay exhibition. Divers will then compete in platform preliminaries. In the evening, the 1,650-yard freestyle will be swum as timed finals (top eight seeded swimmers), followed by finals for the morning's preliminary events. The platform diving finals will precede the 400-yard freestyle relay, which concludes the competition.

A senior recognition ceremony will take place at the beginning of the Saturday evening session.

The Lumberjacks are coming off a strong home win against Utah Tech, defeating the Trailblazers 183-69. They won 11 of 14 events and swept all four relay races. Cydnie Perkins set the 200-yard breaststroke pool record with a time of 2:15.39, surpassing the previous mark of 2:16.82 set in 2018. Perkins already owns the pool record in the 100-yard breaststroke.

NAU also shattered the pool record in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Isahbel Krasht swam the first leg, turning it over to Evalotta Aabrams, who recorded the fastest split at 1:50.77. Kaci Kelaher and Abbie Miller closed out the relay as NAU posted a winning time of 7:30.46 - nearly three seconds faster than Boise State's previous record set six years ago.

Tickets for the MPSF Championship can be purchased online, with single-day tickets available here, and all-session passes here. Live diving scores will be available via DiveMeets, and additional information can be found on the official MPSF Championship website.

Following conference action, select divers will return home to host the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships at the Wall Aquatic Center from March 9-1. Qualifying swimmers will conclude the postseason at the NCAA Championships, scheduled to begin March 18 in Atlanta, Georgia.
