PHARR, Texas (February 25, 2026) -Â The Northern Arizona women's swimming and diving team had a strong start to the first day of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Conference Championship on Wednesday, recording several career bests and leading the competition standings with 195 points.
The divers swept the podium in the 1-meter championship. In their final conference championship appearance, the NAU seniors dominated.
In the preliminaries, Grace Wesche led the way with a score of 270.05. Mackenna Stocker followed in second at 264.45. Margaret Wesche placed sixth with a 243.00, while senior Kirsten Clark, competing in her first conference championship, scored 176.70.
In the finals, Stocker took gold with a score of 297.20. Margaret Wesche climbed four spots to secure silver with 292.25, and Grace Wesche earned bronze with 283.65.
Tomorrow, the divers will compete in the 3-meter event, with preliminaries beginning at 9:30 a.m. MST. The finals will take place at the end of the afternoon session, which begins at 5Â p.m. MST.
On the swimming side, the Lumberjacks secured a medal in each relay event.
The evening began with the 200-yard medley relay. Senior Gracie Munk led off with the backstroke, clocking in at 25.84, before passing it to fellow senior Cydnie Perkins for the breaststroke. Perkins recorded a career-best relay split of 27.78. Isahbel Krasht followed with a 24.50 butterfly split, handing it off to Kokona Watanabe, who posted a career-best 22.68 freestyle anchor leg. The 'Jacks secured bronze with a total time of 1:40.80, just 0.03 seconds shy of the school record they set this past Nov. in New Mexico.
Closing out the first day was the 800-yard freestyle relay. Evalotta Aabrams set a lifetime best of 1:49.32 before handing it to Krasht, who swam a 1:50.84. Elsa Musselman added a career-best split of 1:48.87, and Kaci Kelaher recorded a career-best split of her own at 1:50.20. NAU finished with a time of 7:19.54 to earn another bronze medal.
Tomorrow, the swimmers will begin preliminaries in the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle relay exhibition and timed trials at 9Â a.m. MST.
The afternoon session will begin with the 200-yard freestyle relay final, followed by the finals of the morning's preliminary events.
