NAU Takes Three-Game Win Streak to the Big Sky State this Weekend

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (April 1, 2026) – The Northern Arizona women's tennis team plays its last road conference matches of the season this weekend against Montana State and Montana. First serve against the Bobcats will be on Friday, April 3 at 9 a.m. MST and against the Griz on Saturday, April 4 at 1 p.m. MST.

The Lumberjacks are riding a three-game win streak entering this week, standing at 5-5 overall and 4-1 in Big Sky matches, sitting second overall in the league standings. NAU closed a three-match homestand last weekend as they topped Eastern Washington 6-1 and snapped Idaho State's eight-match win streak, beating the Bengals 4-3. In Flagstaff, the Jacks are 4-1 on the season but 1-4 on the road, with the lone victory coming against Weber State on Mar. 1.

Patrycja Niewiadomska has led the way for NAU this season and was named Big Sky Player of the Week Wednesday morning following stellar performances against the Bengals and Eagles. The senior has compiled an 8-2 overall record on the season playing exclusively at the No. 1 position, and has also garnered a 7-2 record in doubles alongside fellow Lumberjack Andrea Noguera.

Montana State stands at 5-9 and 1-3 in conference matches. The Cats most recently took a 4-2 win over Seattle on the road on Mar. 19, and picked up their first Big Sky win of the year over Portland State on Mar. 15. Angel Bean has won back-to-back matches in singles for MSU, and also owns a 8-3 record in doubles with teammates Nia Gelashvili.

The Griz bring a 2-12 record into this contest and are seeking their first league win, as well as the end to an eight-match skid. Montana has played just one home contest so far, falling to #50 Sacramento State on Feb. in by a 6-1 decision. Paige Bott has won two straight matches in singles at the No. 5 position, while Kelsey Phillips owns a team-best 8-6 record for the Griz.
