NAPA, Calif. (April 6, 2026) - Northern Arizona women's golf opened play at the Chevron Silverado Showdown on Monday with a steady first round, finishing tied for seventh as a team at 8-over-par 296, paced by a pair of top-15 individual performances.
The Lumberjacks were led by Lizzie Neale and Amy Hodgkins, who each carded even-par 72s to sit in a tie for 14th after 18 holes. Neale's round kept her within striking distance of the individual lead, continuing a trend of consistent scoring for the senior. Hodgkins matched her stroke for stroke to anchor the Lumberjacks' lineup.
Starting the round on hole 10, Neale carded 16 pars on the day, dropping a shot on hole two and bouncing back with a birdie on hole three. Hodgkins opened the tournament with a birdie on the 375-yard par-4 and added three more on the 15th, 17th and third holes.
Freshman Lydia Lin turned in a 4-over 76 and is tied for 50th. Lin, who has been one of NAU's reliable performers this season, battled through a challenging back nine on the Silverado Resort North Course but remains in position to climb the leaderboard over the final two rounds. She made the turn at 1-under with a birdie on hole 12.
Frankie Dezis also posted a 4-over 76, matching Lin and sitting in a tie for 50th. Dezis' round provided key depth for the Lumberjacks, as NAU counted four scores of 76 or better in the opening round. The junior recorded three birdies in her first nine holes, including on 11, 15 and 18.
Rounding out the lineup, Nina Lukyanenko shot an 8-over 80 and is tied for 82nd.
As a team, the Jacks positioned themselves in the middle of a competitive field that includes multiple top-50 programs, with two rounds remaining at the three-day event hosted by Oregon and Colorado.
Southern California leads the event at 11-under, while Eastern Michigan is second at 4-under. USC's No. 10 Catherine Park is the clubhouse leader after carding a 5-under 67.
Northern Arizona will look to build on its balanced scoring in Tuesday's second round as it aims to move up the leaderboard at its penultimate tournament of the season. The 'Jacks will begin play tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. MST with Lukyanenko out first, teeing it up alongside California (+5), San Jose State (+7) and UC Davis (+8).
