  • NAU Women's Soccer Announces 2016 Schedule

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona University women’s soccer team released its 2016 schedule featuring nine home matches, nine away matches and one neutral match at the UNLV Rebel Classic in August. Head Coach Andre Luciano and the Lumberjacks will gear up for a competitive slate of non-conference and conference opponents after finishing 4-1-1 in the 2016 spring campaign.

During a fun night for all in attendance, student-athletes, coaches, staff and administration all gathered at the Prochnow Auditorium to look back and revel in yet another outstanding academic year.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The 38th annual Golden Eagle Awards luncheon was held on Wednesday at the NAU High Country Conference Center with a total of 187 Northern Arizona student-athletes being honored for their scholastic and athletic achievements. Senior diver Chelsea Jackson and senior distance runner Alejandro Montano were selected as the Scholar-Athletes of the Year during another outstanding luncheon.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – This Saturday, March 26, the Northern Arizona University women’s soccer team will be en route to Tuba City, Ariz. to help put on a free soccer clinic at Moencopi Day School. This NativeVision Mini-Camp, whose mission is dedicated to youth enrichment and empowerment for American Indian children, will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to ages 8-18.

Sherwin has served as Northern Arizona’s SAAC President since the fall of 2015 and will now make the leap to give back to student-athletes on a bigger stage.

NAU student-athletes, coaches and administrators spread out around the community participating in activities and a march. NAU was able to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of MLK Day being recognized on the Flagstaff campus.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – In less than a week, Northern Arizona University women’s soccer player Ali Lixandru will head to Spain to represent the Romanian national soccer team. Lixandru, who is the first player to receive the call up since Alexia Gonzalez played with the Mexican national team in the summer of 2013, will spend a week overseas to train and play a total of three games against Ireland, Norway and Spain.

Senior forward Haley Wingender was named to the All-Big Sky First Team while senior midfielder Cierra Gamble, senior defender Torey Braly and senior midfielder Emily Wadell were All-Big Sky Honorable Mention selections.

    Cedar City, Utah – Head Coach Andre Luciano and his squad knew there was a lot riding on today's game against Southern Utah University. A double overtime thriller was about what was expected between two teams fighting for a spot in the Big Sky tournament. With a final score of 2-2, after senior Torey Braly tied up the game with 13 seconds to go in regulation, NAU closes out their 2015 season with a 9-8-2 overall record and a 4-4-2 finish in the Big Sky. With Sacramento State's win over Portland State, the Lumberjacks just missed a post-season berth.

Northern Arizona University women’s soccer player Haley Wingender claimed District 8 first team honors.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Sophomore forward on the Northern Arizona University women’s soccer team Adrian Nixt comes from Portland, Ore. where she was a four-year starter and three-year captain at Westside Christian High School. In her rookie season for the Lumberjacks, Nixt was named All-Big Sky Honorable Mention recording five goals and three assists in 2014. This year, she has four goals and three assists for 11 points after appearing in all 18 games. In NAU’s Sept. 6 contest against Oakland University, Nixt hit the game-winner in the 89th minute of regulation. Here are 15 things you might not know about her.

    OGDEN, UTAH. – This afternoon (Oct. 27) the Big Sky Conference office announced that Northern Arizona University women’s soccer player Torey Braly was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week. After a crucial two games against Idaho State and Weber State, the senior played an integral role in the Lumberjacks’ back-to-back wins this weekend. This is Braly’s first Player of the Week honor of her career.

With wins over Idaho State and Weber State, the Lumberjacks currently sit at sixth place in the Big Sky standings. A win over Southern Utah will mean a spot in the Big Sky Tournament taking place Nov. 5-7.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona University women’s soccer team was long overdue for an overtime victory. In their sixth overtime match of the season against the Weber State Wildcats this afternoon (Oct. 25), the Lumberjacks finished on top with a final score of 2-1. This snapped Weber State’s four game winning streak and moved NAU into the sixth place mark in the current Big Sky standings. It was only fitting that, on a day celebrating 11 graduating seniors, seniors Nicole Sherwin, Torey Braly and Emily Wadell would help lift the ‘Jacks past a hot WSU team.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – This evening (Oct. 23), the Northern Arizona University women’s soccer team snagged their fourth conference win of the season over the Idaho State Bengals in Lumberjack Stadium. With a pair of goals from senior forward Haley Wingender, the ‘Jacks rolled past the Bengals with a final score of 2-1. Northern Arizona moves to 8-8-1 this season and is now 3-4-1 in the Big Sky with just two more games remaining in the regular season.
  • Lumberjack Women's Soccer Player Feature: #21 Missy Kettelkamp

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Phoenix, Ariz. native and sophomore on the Northern Arizona University women’s soccer team Missy Kettelkamp was a four-year starter and one-year captain for Pinnacle High School. In 2011, she helped lead her high school team to a perfect 21-0 record and a state championship. At NAU, Kettelkamp has been a recipient for the Golden Eagle Award the last two years while majoring in Accounting. This season she has played and started in 15 of 16 games. Kettelkamp has notched two goals and two assists as a defender for the Lumberjacks in the 2015 campaign. She chose Northern Arizona because it has always been her dream school since both of her older sisters, Jessica and Charisse, also attended NAU.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – It is officially crunch time for Northern Arizona University women’s soccer as they head into this weekend in pursuit of a Big Sky Championship berth. The Lumberjacks will play host to Idaho State University on Friday, Oct. 23 and to Weber State on Sunday, Oct. 25 in the final two of three conference games remaining. Northern Arizona is coming off back-to-back losses to Eastern Washington and University of Idaho, but is looking to finish the regular season on a high note in its final home stand of the 2015 campaign.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – This afternoon (Oct. 18), the Northern Arizona University women’s soccer team dropped their fourth conference contest of the 2015 campaign to the current league leader University of Idaho who has now won seven straight games and remains undefeated in Big Sky play. The Lumberjacks gave up four goals in the first half and could not bounce back despite Haley Wingender’s lone goal for NAU and her ninth this season. Posting a final score of 4-1 in Lumberjack Stadium, Northern Arizona drops to 7-8-1 on the season and 2-4-1 in conference games.

  • NAU Women's Soccer Rallies Late, Falls to Eastern Washington on the Road 4-2

    CHENEY, Wash. – Despite a late second half run, the Northern Arizona University women’s soccer team came up short against No. 2 in the Big Sky Eastern Washington University with a final score of 4-2. Northern Arizona was down 3-0 at halftime, but rallied to score two late goals which came from freshman forward Mei-Te Coco and junior forward Lindsay Doyle. The Lumberjacks drop to 7-7-1 this season and 2-3-1 in the Big Sky. Just four games remain until the Big Sky Conference Tournament Nov. 5-8.
