Gamble Earns First Big Sky Weekly Honor of the Year

Gamble and the defense locked down Portland State and Sacramento State on the weekend

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (October 9, 2018) –  Junior Carly Gamble was selected as the Big Sky's Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday by the league office, earning her first honor of the season.

Gamble and the Northern Arizona defense were able to hold both Portland State and Sacramento State to zero goals on the weekend.  This marks the fifth and sixth shutout of the season for the Lumberjacks.  Gamble and the NAU defense held the Vikings to just 10 shots on Friday night, with only five on target.  While on Sunday Gamble and the 'Jacks prevented the Hornets to five shots, with just two on goal.

The California native picked up an assist to Haleigh Van Allen in the eighth minute of the game against Sacramento State.  Gamble capitalized off of a free kick near midfield where she found Van Allen in the box.  This marked Gamble's first assist of the season.

Gamble and the Lumberjacks will look to continue their winning ways on the road as they will travel to take on Northern Colorado on Friday, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. MST and Montana on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. MST.
