FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (December 17, 2025) – Northern Arizona women's soccer head coach
Alan Berrios has announced the addition of four signees to the roster this spring, including three transfers and an early enrollee freshman.
"After graduating an outstanding group of seniors who led both on and off the field, it was clear that adding experience through the transfer portal was a priority." Berrios said, "We believe we accomplished that and are excited to welcome Elliotte Kortus, Jael Kapua'ala, Brooklyn Jones, and Erin Perry. Each of these players brings qualities that were essential following the departure of our senior class."
Joining the Lumberjacks' attacking squad is Elliotte Kortus, an incoming redshirt junior from Washington State. Kortus made an immediate impact on the front line, appearing in 18 of the Cougars' 19 matches and tallying eight shots, three of which were on goal. "Elliotte adds a strong attacking presence with the ability to score goals in and around the box," Berrios said. "She strikes the ball extremely well, and we're excited to see how she connects with an already talented attacking group."
The Lumberjacks also secured a strong presence in the midfield in Jael Kapua'ala. Kapua'ala earned multiple All-State Honors and Maui Interscholastic League All-Star selections during her prep career at Kamehameha Schools Maui, while helping guide the Warriors to back-to-back MIL Division I titles in 2023 and 2024. "Jael is the holding midfielder we've been searching for over the past few years," Berrios said. "She has the ability to be a playmaker from the six position and is an excellent pivot player who will help connect our lines through her technical ability and vision."
The final transfer joining NAU is Brooklyn Jones, a true freshman transferring from Appalachian State. "We also wanted to add size and pace to our back line, and we believe we've done that with the addition of the very athletic Brooklyn Jones," Berrios said. "She reads the game exceptionally well, has great recovery speed, and uses her angles effectively, making her tough to beat defensively."
In addition, the Lumberjacks will welcome early enrollee Erin Perry. "We're excited to have one of our freshmen enrolling early in Erin," Berrios said. "She is a relentless striker whose aggressive style of play will be well suited for the Big Sky Conference." A native of Fullerton, California, Perry earned Division I California Interscholastic Federation team honors in 2025 and wrapped up a four-year varsity career at Troy High School this past year.
"Overall, we are extremely excited about this incoming group and look forward to seeing how they integrate with a strong group of returners who are hungry to compete for a championship," Berrios said.
