FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (November 1, 2018) – The Northern Arizona men's tennis team will be heading down to Phoenix, Ariz. to take part in the Grand Canyon Invitational from Nov 2-to-4. NAU will be taking down six players to participate in both singles and doubles in the dual format. The Lumberjacks will be taking on both Grand Canyon University and Arizona Christian University.
The participants for the 'Jacks will be
Lucas Taylor,
Chris Steele,
Facundo Tumosa,
David Nguyen,
Ron Idzon and
Daniel Dillon. All six of the Northern Arizona tennis players will compete in both singles and doubles. The duos will be Taylor and Tumosa, Steele and Nguyen and Idzon and Dillon.
"We are excited for the tournament this weekend," NAU head coach
Maciej Bogusz said. "It's going to be a great chance for our freshman to experience dual format matches the same format as we will be playing in the fall."
In singles, both Nguyen and Taylor have been able to find success this fall. Taylor in the ITA Regional Championships where he made it to the semi-finals in the consolation bracket while Nguyen made it to the single finals in the Wildcat Invitational draw. The other Lumberjacks have been able to pick up matches here and there, but have yet made a deep run in a tournament.
This tournament will mark the first time this fall that these NAU pairs will compete against another opponent.
