NAU Football Places 12 on 2018 All-Big Sky Football Teams

Junior cornerback Khalil Dorsey named to first team

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (November 20, 2018) – The Northern Arizona football team had a total of 12 players selected to the 2018 All-Big Sky Football Teams, which were released by conference officials on Tuesday.
 
Junior cornerback Khalil Dorsey was honored as an All-Big Sky First Team selection, senior wide receiver Emmanuel Butler senior safeties Kam'ron Johnson and Wes Sutton were named to the All-Big Sky Second Team, while junior defensive tackle Jalen Goss, senior cornerback Maurice Davison and sophomore punter DJ Arnson were All-Big Sky Third Team choices.
 
In addition of total of five Lumberjacks received All-Big Sky Honorable Mention status including junior guard Jamison Pruitt, junior guard Malik Noshi, senior running back Cory Young, junior cornerback Marcel Myers and junior defensive lineman Aaron Andrews.
 
Dorsey was part of a defensive secondary that ranked 13th nationally and tops in the Big Sky in passing yards allowed at 179.7 yards per game and sixth among FCS leaders with 17 interceptions, which also led the Big Sky Conference.  Dorsey snared three interceptions in 2018, including a season-high two in a win over Southern Utah on Sept. 22.  He registered 33 tackles, including a pair of tackles for loss and broke up six passes.  Dorsey was an All-Big Sky Second Team honoree in 2017.
 
Butler became NAU's all-time leader in receiving touchdowns (33) and yards (3,217) during his senior campaign which saw him post 676 yards on 35 receptions and seven touchdowns.  Butler closes out his career as a Lumberjacks as one of the most prolific pass catchers in NAU history finishing with 13 performances of 100-plus receiving yards and one 200-yard effort.  This marks the third time in Butler's career he has been honored with All-Big Sky Status after being named to the first team in 2015 and 2016.
 
Joining Butler on the second team are senior safeties Sutton and Johnson.  Sutton tabbed 34 tackles and six tackles for loss during his senior campaign while adding three interceptions and five pass breakups.  He was a first team All-Big Sky honoree in 2017.  Johnson, who earned second team All-Big Sky status for the second consecutive season, led the NAU secondary with four interceptions.  He also tabbed 53 stops, a fumble recovery and four pass breakups.
 
Goss joined two of his teammates on the All-Big Sky Third Team squad.  Goss, who was honored as Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week after returning a fumble for a pivotal touchdown in the Lumberjacks' win over Weber State on Oct. 6, amassed 40 tackles, including 10 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks.  He forced a total of four quarterback hurries and recovered two fumbles.
 
Davison joins Goss with All-Big Sky third team honors and is the fourth member of NAU's starting secondary to earn all-conference accolades.  Davison nabbed his first interception of the season in the regular-season finale vs. North Dakota and raced 51 yards for a touchdown.  He capped off his senior campaign with 51 stops, 1.5 tackles for loss and six pass breakups, while starting all 10 games in 2018.
 
Arnson had a breakthrough season and established himself as one of the top punters in all of the FCS.  His average of 44.6 yards per punt ranked third nationally among FCS leaders and second in the Big Sky Conference.  He placed a total of 15 kicks inside the 20 yard line, forced 15 fair catches and had 16 punts of over 50 yards, including three over 60.
 
The Big Sky All-Conference team is selected by the Big Sky's head football coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players. The conference's Coach of the Year award will be announced on Wednesday.
