Track and Field’s Brooke Andersen Earns Fourth Big Sky Athlete of the Week Honor of Indoor Season

OGDEN, Utah - Northern Arizona University track and field standout Brooke Andersen earned her fourth Big Sky Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week award of the indoor season after getting selected with the honor once again for her accomplishments over the weekend.

A week after breaking the NAU and Big Sky record with her toss of 21.95m in the women's weight throw at the University of New Mexico's Don Kirby Invitational which still sits as the seventh-best mark in nation, Andersen continued her run of outstanding marks with a victory in the same event at the NAU Tune Up on Friday evening with the second-best toss of her career with a mark of 21.89m.

The redshirt senior followed it up just two days later with a sixth-place performance of 21.77m at the 2018 USATF Indoor Championships on Sunday as one of the few select collegiate athletes competing at the national meet.

Andersen has now posted throws of 20.70m or more in five of the six meets she has competed in this indoor season.

It is the 11th athlete of the week honor earned for Lumberjack athletes during indoors.

Northern Arizona returns to action when it hosts the 2018 Big Sky Indoor Championships this Thursday, Feb. 22 through Saturday, Feb. 24 at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome.
