Ashley Taylor Advances to 800m Finals at Canadian Nationals

OTTAWA - Former Northern Arizona University standout Ashley Taylor advanced to the 800-meter finals at the 2018 Canadian Track and Field Championships with her performance at Terry Fox Stadium on Friday evening.

The just graduated Lumberjack posted a time of 2:05.18 to place second in her heat and sixth overall to punch her ticket to the championship round on Sunday which is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. MST.

"I am ready and excited to be apart of my first Canadian Nationals 800-meter final," Taylor said. "This race will be against the best in Canada. I look forward to racing against these amazing women and I have no doubt in my ability to be a dominating force out there tomorrow."

Taylor held the fifth-fastest time among Canadians this outdoor season coming into the meet and is focused for another shot at a title.

The Burlington, Ontario native has already claimed two All-American honors this year with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Indoor National Championships and a bronze at NCAA Outdoors.

"Like NCAAs, making the finals is the hardest part," Taylor added. "Now that the hard part is over, it's time to have fun and leave it all out on the track."
