FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (April 20, 2026) – Northern Arizona track & field swept the Big Sky Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honors, as Colin Sahlman was named Men's Track Athlete of the Week and Hayley Burns earned Women's Track Athlete of the Week accolades following standout performances at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
Sahlman continued his dominant 2026 campaign, adding another elite mark to his resumé. The sophomore clocked a 3:36.03 in the 1500 meters on Saturday, leading a trio of Lumberjacks and moving to No. 7 in the NCAA this season while holding the top mark in the Big Sky. His performance builds on an already historic year, highlighted by his 1:44.70 in the 800 meters, which ranks No. 1 in the NCAA this season, No. 7 all-time in collegiate indoor history, and stands as the Big Sky Conference record.
Burns showcased her range across two events at Bryan Clay, delivering one of the top all-around weekends in the NCAA. On Friday, she ran 2:03.05 in the 800 meters, good for No. 1 in the Big Sky, No. 21 in the NCAA this season, and No. 2 all-time in NAU history. She followed that performance with a 4:08.14 in the 1500 meters on Saturday, a mark that ranks No. 7 in the NCAA, No. 1 in the Big Sky, and also No. 2 all-time at NAU.
The weekly honors highlight Northern Arizona's continued success on the national stage, as the Lumberjacks remain among the top-performing programs in the country across multiple event groups.
