TUCSON, Ariz. (May 2, 2026) — Northern Arizona track and field put together a strong showing Saturday at the Desert Heat Classic at Drachman Stadium, highlighted by personal bests, all-time marks and key Big Sky movement across multiple event groups.
Jordann Germain led the way on the women's side, breaking 24 seconds in the 200 meters for the first time with a personal-best 23.98. The mark ranks No. 7 in program history and No. 9 in the Big Sky this season. Germain also added a personal best of 54.26 in the 400 meters, tying for No. 5 in the conference.
Shanye Harris added a big performance in the 100 meters, clocking 11.63 to move to No. 8 in the Big Sky and into a tie for No. 5 all-time at NAU.
In the hurdles, Erick Reyes-Aguilera ran a personal-best 52.82 in the 400-meter hurdles, ranking No. 11 all-time at NAU and No. 4 in the Big Sky this season. He also added a 14.39 personal best in the 110-meter hurdles, while Shon Martin posted 14.38 and Josiah Johnson added a 14.19 effort.
Nicolas Martinez continued the momentum in the men's 400-meter hurdles, running a personal-best 50.83. The mark ranks No. 3 all-time at NAU, No. 2 in the Big Sky this season and No. 45 in NCAA Division I.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team of Brandon Nelson, Josiah Johnson, Ayo Olayinka and Caleb Coppedge ran 40.15, tying for No. 2 in the Big Sky and ranking No. 9 in program history. NAU followed that with a 3:09.63 in the men's 4x400-meter relay, moving to No. 7 all-time and No. 3 in the conference.
In the middle distances, Jonah Fearnley (1:50.13) and Aiden Barnhill (1:50.29) both recorded personal bests in the 800 meters, finishing back-to-back and ranking No. 11 and No. 12 in the Big Sky.
In the steeplechase, Northern Arizona saw a strong set of performances led by Randy Espinoza, who ran a personal-best 9:10.44 in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase to move into No. 9 in the Big Sky this season. On the women's side, Nikita Moore clocked 10:37.36 to rank No. 7 in the conference, while Tess Hannigan added a 10:46.87 effort, as the Lumberjacks continued to build depth and momentum in the event group.
Rylee Hobson highlighted the women's throws with a mark of 41.11 meters in the javelin, moving to No. 7 all-time in program history and No. 10 in the Big Sky this season. Sariyah Horne-Kemp added a 57.27-meter effort in the hammer throw and a 48.84-meter mark in the discus as NAU continues to show consistency across the throws group.
Alexa Hamilton had a standout day in the jumps, recording a personal-best 12.56 meters in the triple jump. The mark ranks No. 4 all-time at NAU and No. 3 in the Big Sky this season. She also added a personal best of 5.95 meters in the long jump, moving to No. 5 all-time in program history.
The Lumberjacks continue to build momentum heading into the Big Sky Outdoor Championships, set for May 13–16, which is next on the schedule, as NAU looks to sweep the team titles.
