NAU enters the weekend having already competed in one meet this season. In early December a small selection of sprinters and distance runners made the trip to Bozeman, Mont., for the Bobcat Preview hosted by Big Sky Conference opponent Montana State.
Â
A few notable events for the Lumberjacks during that meet included the women's relay team comprised of
Clarissa Maxey,
Jasmine Malone,
Miracle Onyemaobi and
Helena McLeod dominating the 4x400 relay finals finishing in 3:52.90 to place first, just under a full second ahead of MSU's squad. Friday Night Duals will allow fans to catch a few of the Lumberjack athletes who may not have competed at the first meet of the year.
Â
"It is important that we do not put too much pressure on timing," said Malone. "Instead, we would rather focus on our efforts and performances. I'm hoping all of us as a team can show that we are ready."
Â
The men's distance team took the top six-spots in the 5000m finals at the Bobcat Preview.
Tyler Day finished first with a time of 14:02.09, with
Geordie Beamish coming in second at 14:25.20. Once Beamish crossed the finish line
Blaise Ferro (14:32.58), Brodey Hastey (14:42.61),
Luis Grijalva (14:53.35) and
Peter Lomong (15:16.76) were not far behind.
Â
Friday Night Duals will be the first official competition that the throwers event groups will participate in for the 2019 indoor season.
