OGDEN, Utah (January 15, 2019) – Northern Arizona University's women's track & field senior sprinter
Jasmine Malone was honored as one of three athletes to receive the Big Sky Athlete of the Week award for her performance at Friday Night Duals.
She ran an impressive 37.94 seconds in the 300m race to take first-place in the event. Malone also competed in the 60m dash and ran a time of 7.54, for a seventh-place finish. The 60m race was a tie for her personal best which she set at the NAU Tune Up meet last season.
"It is always an honor to receive Big Sky Athlete of the Week," said Malone. "This is one of the small stepping stones to a bigger achievement I hope to obtain this season."
Malone is the second Lumberjack to receive the award this season.
Tyler Day was honored in early December for his performance at the Bobcat Preview.
The Lumberjacks return to action on January 18, 2019 at 3p.m. (MST) for the Lumberjack Team Challenge meet. NAU will be hosting the meet at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome.
