NAU Hoops Inks Jackson Larsen to 2019-20 Signing Class

San Diego product averaging 23.0 points and 10.4 rebounds per game as prep senior

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Jan. 9, 2019) – The Northern Arizona men's basketball team has added Jackson Larsen to the 2019-20 signing class, NAU head coach Jack Murphy announced on Wednesday.

"Jackson (Larsen) is an outstanding addition to our Lumberjack family," Murphy said.  "We are so excited to have him as part of next year's freshmen class.  He competes at both great high school and AAU programs in the San Diego area and has been well coached throughout his career.  With his combination of size, skill and shot-making ability, he will have a great career here in Flagstaff."

The versatile 6'7" Larsen has played three different positions at Christian High School in El Cajon, Calif., seeing time at the shooting guard, small forward and power forward spots.  As a senior this season, Larsen has posted averages of 23.0 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.  He was honored as the 2018 West Hills Tournament Most Valuable Player and was selected to the 2018 Rancho Mirage All-Tournament Team.

During his junior prep campaign at Christian High School, Larsen tabbed 14.4 points and 10.9 rebounds per contest.  He was recognized as the 2017 Eastern League Most Valuable Player and helped guide the Patriots to a 24-10 overall record and 11-1 in league play.  Christian HS advanced to the semifinals of the 2017 California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Division IV Playoffs.

"Jackson (Larsen) embodies the competitive spirit that we know can contribute to the success of the NAU basketball program during his career in Flagstaff," NAU assistant coach Shane Burcar said.  "During the recruiting process, I had the opportunity to get to know Jackson and his parents, Tyler and Debbie, who clearly have instilled the character and traits in Jackson that will lead to success both on and off the court.  We are excited that Jackson is joining the NAU family."

For his high school career overall, Larsen has competed in 62 games and has averaged double-figure scoring totals for each of the last three seasons.  His current high school career numbers have seen him post 14.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals.

Larsen joins fellow incoming freshman Isaiah Lewis in the 2019-20 NAU Basketball Signing Class.
