FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (September 18, 2026) – Northern Arizona men's basketball head coach
Shane Burcar announced the addition of
Max Majerle to the program on Friday. Majerle, a 6-4 guard from Scottsdale, Ariz., transfers to the Lumberjacks after a season at North Dakota State.
"We are excited to add Max to our program," Burcar said. "With his competitive spirit, he will help us immediately. Max plays with legit toughness and was part of an NCAA Tournament team last year at North Dakota State. That experience will be crucial as we target a Big Sky Championship this season."
Majerle played 18 games off the bench for a Bison squad that won the Summit League championship last year and went 27-8. Averaging 5.6 minutes per game, Majerle totaled 18 points, 16 rebounds, nine assists and three steals across 18 appearances.
Majerle started his collegiate career at Central Michigan and spent two seasons with the Chippewas from 2022-24. As a true freshman in 2022-23, Majerle saw action in 30 games and earned 17 starts, while averaging 4.0 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
After missing the 2023-24 season with an injury, Majerle spent 2024-25 at Pima Community College where he averaged 13.3 points, 3.0 assists and 1.9 steals per game for a team that went 35-1 and finished at the national tournament. Majerle made 72 3-pointers at a 38% clip.
Majerle, son of former NBA star Dan Majerle, graduated from Arcadia High School in Scottsdale. In three seasons at Arcadia, Majerle averaged 13.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game and was named to the Arizona Republic All-Area team.
Majerle is the 12th newcomer to this season's Lumberjack men's basketball roster. Burcar previously announced
eight transfers and
three incoming freshmen.
