FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Oct. 12, 2019) – Northern Arizona men's tennis finished up its exhibition match today against the British Army tennis team, winning all three courts in doubles and all six in singles, 7-0.
The British Army crossed the ocean for a tour, playing at San Diego, Arizona State, NAU and UNLV.
The Lumberjacks went 3-0 during the doubles matches. On court one,
Facundo Tumosa and
Eban Straker-Meads finished their set up last, scoring 8-4 in their doubles match against Tere and Munnery for the British Army. In the second match, duo
Chris Steele and
Daniel Dillon wrapped up their doubles match first, cranking out an 8-3 win over the British Army's Rogers and Randle. Finishing up shortly after,
David Nguyen and
Mikael Purne led the British Army's players, Killips and Gregory, 8-2.
The singles matches were played similarly to the doubles matches, going just to eight points to win the set.
The 'Jacks went 6-0 in singles. On court one, Tumosa first played Rogers, ending the match with an 8-3 win. Straker-Meads played Randle and finished over their British Army 8-1 on court two. He was the first to finish his singles play. Dillon played Marren on court three, winning 8-5. Steele shutout Munnery on court four, recording a perfect 8-0 win. Nguyen finished his singles play 8-3 against Killips. Purne played T. Williams on the last court, reigning an 8-2 win.
Three NAU players went in extra matches. Steele played Tere, finishing 8-1. Nguyen finished against A. Williams 8-5. Purne played Gregory, wrapping up the match with an 8-5 win.
