Aguilar Earns Top Placekicker Honor, Spot on the FCS ADA All-America Team

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (December 19, 2019) – In an announcement by the Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) on Wednesday, Northern Arizona junior placekicker Luis Aguilar was named to the 2019 FCS ADA All-America Team. Aguilar is the first Lumberjack to ever earn All-American laurels from the FCS ADA.

For Aguilar, the honor is his third All-American nod this week following his selection to the HERO Sports All-America and The Associated Press All-America First Teams.

The seventh annual FCS ADA All-America Team recognizes the top student-athletes from FCS institutions at 11 different positions. The 2019 class includes student-athletes from 10 different institutions, representing seven different conferences. Voting was conducted by a national panel, consisting of media and sports information directors.

Aguilar was selected as the FCS ADA Top Placekicker just two days after being named as the 2019 Fred Mitchell Award recipient, presented to the nation's top placekicker in the FCS, Division II, Division III, NAIA and NJCAA. He is one of two student-athletes, along with Dante Olson (Montana, linebacker) honored by the FCS ADA.

The Nogales, Ariz. native ranks third in the FCS in field goal percentage (88.8) and field goals made per game (1.83). He converted 22-of-25 field goal attempts with two makes from more than 50 yards, including an FCS-long 57-yarder versus Northern Colorado on Oct. 5, and he split the uprights on all 52 extra point attempts.

Aguilar led the country with 61 kickoffs that resulted in touchbacks and is ninth in the country in scoring with 9.8 points per game. His scoring average is second among FCS kickers.
