Flagstaff, Ariz. (February 7, 2019) – For the second time during the indoor season the Northern Arizona University track & field program will be on the road at two separate meets, the Don Kirby Elite Collegiate Invitational hosted by New Mexico University in Albuquerque, N.M., and the Iowa State Classic meet hosted by Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Both meets will take place on Feb. 8
th and 9
th.

The Iowa State Classic will be held at the Lied Recreation Center, while the Don Kirby Invitational will take place at the Albuquerque Convention Center. Both meets will put the Lumberjacks against some of the top teams in the nation.

The Lumberjacks are coming off of three-straight indoor home meets and will be traveling for the first time since early December when they competed at the Bobcat Preview hosted by Montana State.

NAU will be sending a variety of event groups to both events.
Â
At the Don Kirby Invitational members from the jumps, distance, throws and sprints squads will be competing.
Â
Notables for the women's jumps team that will be in New Mexico include
Helena McLeod,
Jenna Figueroa and
Kaitlyn Wayne; while the men's side will be sending
Obang Odol,
Khalil Dorsey and
Cameron Rayford. Odol will also see further action later in the meet in the men's 4x400 race.

For the distance team the men's side will be sending a small group to Albuquerque including Paradise Valley transfer
Aldo Marquez and freshman
Collin Ullrich to compete in the 3000m and mile races.

The women will be sending a handful of student-athletes. Some highlights include
Mikayla Malaspina,
Shannon Molvin,
Zoe Wall and freshman
Abby Riordan competing in the 3000m and mile races.

Women's sprints will see
Jasmine Malone and
Jada Jackson running in the 200m dash. Malone and
Miracle Onyemaobi will be featured in the 400m event. Other female sprinters making the trip include
Clarissa Maxey to top off the 4x400 team, and
Rita Sakharov and
Dana Padget in the 200m race as well.

Men's sprints and hurdles will see Dorsey take on the 60m hurdles event again. This week's men's Big Sky Conference Track Athlete of the Week
Christopher Grant will also be making the trip east to the Land of Enchantment. Grant is set to compete in the 200m, 60m and 4x400 races.
Tyren Wolfe is set to participate in the men's 400m and 4x400 races.

Lastly the throws squad will be sending
Matilde Roe for the women's shot put and a group of men's throwers for both the shot put and weight throw competitions. Men's shot put will see
William Beaudry, Kevin Cooney,
Jacob Kaufman and
Brady Williams; while the shot put will have Beaudry and Williams joined by
Jake Arnold and
Parker Joens.

At the Iowa State Classic members from women's and men's distance teams will be making the trip to Ames.

Maggie Carruth will be running in the women's 800m event.
Jesselyn Bries,
Delaney Rasmussen,
Emma Sjolund, Pipip Eitel and
Hannah Behunin will all be competing in the mile. The women's 5000m run will feature
Miranda Myers and
Jenna McCaffrey.

For the men's distance team Ryan Lanely is set to run in the 800m race.
Tyler Day,
Ryan Raff, Brodey Hastey,
Geordie Beamish and
Luis Grijalva will be representing NAU in the 3000m race. The 5000m race will have
Harvey Nelson,
Jack Shea,
Cade Burks,
Ryan Wolff and
Kyle Havriliak race for the 'Jacks.
