AUSTIN & SAN MARCOS, Texas and STANFORD, Calif. (March 30, 2019) – Northern Arizona University ramped things up on Friday competing in three separate premiere meets across the country in Texas and California.

The majority of the Lumberjack men and women competed at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State University and Texas Relays hosted by the University of Texas, while NAU's distance crew made its mark on the west coast at the Stanford Invitational hosted by Stanford University.

The day started in Austin with Texas Relays for the sprints/hurdles and jumps squads; NAU would make its way south to San Marcos afterwards with the throws crew joining in as well. The Stanford Invitational would run late into the night with the last race of the day ending just about twenty minutes to midnight.

TEXAS RELAYS

Sprints/Hurdles

Freshman sprinter Christopher Grant garnered further national attention after participating in the Men's 100m Dash. Grant would set a new PR with a time of 10.47, which toppled his previous best of 10.68 set at the 2019 Baldy Castillo Invitational earlier this season. Grant's performance was at the time of publication the 33rd best time in the nation and the 17th best in the region.

Earlier in the day Grant, Khalil Dorsey, Tyren Wolfe and AJ Hollis made up NAU's squad for the Men's 4x100 Relay event. The 'Jacks would finish their second 4x100m relay race of the outdoor season in 41.32. The quartet placed 17th in a field that featured some of the most talented men's relay teams in the country.

Jumps

Cameron Rayford is off to a hot start for the 2019 outdoor season; last meet, the 2019 Baldy Castillo Invitational, he placed first in the men's triple jump competition. Friday morning would see Rayford produce again as he had his third best collegiate performance in the Men's Long Jump. Rayford leaped for a mark of 7.26m on his third attempt and would place seventh overall. He is also now the current leader in the Big Sky Conference for furthest distance reached in the men's long jump during the 2019 outdoor season.

BOBCAT INVITATIONAL

Sprints/Hurdles

Jasmine Malone would place sixth in the Women's 400m Dash with a time of 56.07. Helena McLeod had the second best 100m Dash race of her collegiate career at the Bobcat Invite. Her time of 12.25 was just short of her current PR of 12.23 set at last year's Sun Angel Classic. Jada Jackson finished just ahead of McLeod in that race placing 11th with a time of 12.11.

Carter Bracken showed out in the Men's 400m Hurdle race by setting a new lifetime PR. His time of 53.85 earned him a sixth-place spot in his heats standings and beat his previous best of 54.62 set during NAU's last outdoor meet, the Baldy Castillo Invite.

Jumps

Dorsey leaped for a mark of 7.23m on his first attempt of the day to give himself the current second furthest distance in the Big Sky Conference thus far in the 2019 outdoor season. Obang Odol cleared a mark of 2.00m on his second attempt to finish eighth in the Men's High Jump.

The pair raced in the Women's 1500m Run with Carruth finishing in 4:34.81 and Rasmussen in 4:34.92.
