Lumberjacks Cap Off Weekend in Southern California at Beach Invitational

BEACH INVITATIONAL RESULTS

LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 20, 2019) - The Northern Arizona University track & field program closed out the 2019 Beach Invitational on Saturday in Long Beach, Calif., at the Jack Rose Track at Long Beach State University. The throws and sprints/hurdles squads represented the Blue & Gold in the Golden State after the program had competed the final day of the Bryan Clay Invitational and the opening day of the Beach Invitational yesterday.

THROWS

Parker Joens had a top-20 performance in the Men's Shot Put. He hit a mark of 17.79m on his second attempt to round out the top-20. Jake Arnold was the 'Jacks second leader in that event coming in at 23rd-place after throwing for a mark of 17.48m on his third attempt, which would earn Arnold a new personal record. Joens was also NAU's top thrower in the Men's Discus after he earned a mark of 50.87m on his first attempt to take 32nd-place. Brady Williams was second in that event for the 'Jacks as he would come in 46th-place off of a 48.01m throw made on his third and final attempt.

Alexa Dragone came in 28th-place in the Women's Shot Put to lead NAU in that event. Dragone would set a new PR off of a 13.99m throw. 

Matilde Roe also set a new PR in the Women's Discus with a mark of 50.03m to top her previous best of 49.47m that was set at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate meet on the 18th of April. 

SPRINTS/HURDLES

Jasmine Malone placed third in the Women's 400m Dash with a time of 54.15. 

The women's 4x100m Relay team came in ninth-place after crossing the finish line at 47.20. The squad was made up of Jasmine Malone, Miracle Onyemaobi, Jada Jackson and Helena McLeod.

Tyren Wolfe came in eighth-place in the Men's 400m Dash. Wolfe's time of 48.19 was his second best of the outdoor season, with his best coming at the Texas State Bobcat Invite when he posted a time of 48.15. Khalil Dorsey had a top-20 performance in the Men's 110m Hurdles with a time of 14.77.
