FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (May 28, 2019) - Northern Arizona University long distance runner
Geordie Beamish has been selected as a member of the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District for Men's Track & Field/Cross Country, which is selected by CoSIDA and was announced on Monday.Â
The junior was recognized as one of the top student-athletes in NCAA Division IÂ for his combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. Beamish averaged a 3.73 GPA while majoring in Civil Engineering.Â
On the track Beamish was the 2019 NCAA Division I National Champion in the Indoor Men's Mile in Birmingham this past February, claiming the title off of a 4:07.69 race in the finals. During the 2018 cross country season Beamish was a vital part of the Lumberjacks third straight national title, earning All-American honors along with six other 'Jacks for their performances in Madison.Â
Beamish recently qualified for the Men's 5k in Austin for the 2019 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships this June.
The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes outstanding student-athletes in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams will be announced as following: June 24 (NAIA), June 25 (NCAA Division III), June 26 (NCAA Division II) and June 27 (NCAA Division I).
