BIG SKY CONFERENCE PRESS RELEASE
OGDEN, Utah. (May 6, 2019) -Â The Big Sky Conference announced their final Athletes of the Week awards ahead of outdoor championships this week.
Tyler Day was named the Male Track Athlete of the Week for the first time this outdoor season.
Last year Day earned the conference honor twice, with the Gilbert, Ariz., native having been named Athlete of the Week twice this past fall as well during the cross country season.Â
Day is currently the NCAA Division I and Big Sky Conference leader in the Men's 5000m Run after his race at the Payton Jordan Invitational this past weekend. His time of 13:25.06 stood apart from every other performance in the country in that event so far this season. He also currently owns the fifth best time in the 10,000m Run in NCAA Division I at 28:24.94.
"This award gives myself a great momentum heading into conference championships," said Day. "It is always a great honor to be recognized by our conference. I feel like this is an affirmation that I am doing the right things and am ready to compete as the end of the year grind starts. The whole program is motivated and ready for Missoula this weekend."
