Geordie Beamish is listed to lead a men's distance group in the Mile, 800m and 3000m Runs. All-American men's long distance runner
Tyler Day is listed in the pre-meet entries for all three of those events as well, so Friday could see the return of one of the programs' most influential runners.
The Lumberjack men will be well represented in the Weight Throw competition as seven athletes are listed as attached to NAU; the throws squad will be led by
William Beaudry and
Kevin Cooney in that event as they both had top-40 marks in the country last week. Jumper and sprinter
Cameron Rayford will put his versatility into action at the Team Challenge as he will be competing in the Men's 60m Dash and Triple Jump. Hurdler
Carter Bracken also looks to be listed in a variety of events including the Men's 200m Dash and 60m Hurdles.
Three NAU men are listed as competing in the Men's High Jump, an event the Lumberjack men could use to score vital points come conference championships time in February. All three jumpers are listed as newcomers to the NAU program (
Bryan Campbell,
Morias Holiday &
Jack Normand).
The NAU men's team was tabbed at No. 26 in the preseason top-30 released earlier last week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association.
NAU's women's team will be led by sprinter
Miracle Onyemaobi in the 200m and 400m Dashes; she will be joined by teammate
Jada Jackson in the 200m Dash, as well as a handful of freshmen and newcomers. The Women's Shot Put looks to have five 'Jacks in that event with
Matilde Roe and true freshmen
Alaina Diggs and
Carly Watts leading the effort there.Â
True freshman
Kenashalee Kerr,
Courtney Weisenberger,
Kenya Coburn and a group of other female freshmen athletes will be taking on multiple field and track events throughout the afternoon/evening. Kerr is slated to be joining Onyemaobi and Jackson in the 200m Dash.
The women's distance crew will see some of the youth of their roster lace it up at the Team Challenge. True freshmen
Sophia Roach and Marissa Milos will race in the Women's 600m Dash along with another group of 'Jacks. Fellow true freshman
Annika Reiss will join junior
Pipi Eitel in the Women's 800m Run in her opening race of the season. The Women's Mile looks to have seven NAU runners attached including Eitel,
