Big Sky Conference Press Release
Â
FARMINGTON, Utah (January 27, 2020) - Northern Arizona University men's long distance runner
Tyler Day earned his first conference honors of the 2020 indoor season Monday afternoon as he was named the Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week for his American collegiate record setting race at the BU Terrier Classic.Â
His time of 13:95.16 set the new record as he topped Oregon Duck Galen Rupp's previous time of 13:18.12.  The previous Big Sky record of 13:29.01 was set in 2011 by another Northern Arizona runner, Diego Estrada.
This is the first time since Week One of the 2018-19 indoor track & field season that Day has been named Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week. Day will look to focus on the Men's 3K moving forward as he will attempt to qualify for both events, with the 5K being basically a sure thing at this point.
The Lumberjacks will return to the Skydome on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 for the Mountain T's Invitational. Follow @NAUTrackFieldXC on social media for all the latest updates on the 'Jacks XC/TF program.
